“We recruit for many contact centre and frontline roles so the candidate portal has been a huge step forwards from a candidate user experience point of view that allows us to engage with a wider audience. The speed at which we can perform online background and credit checks in a compliant way through automating our ATS with Experian is second to none. We have received positive feedback from around the business on the improvements made and ease of Eploy to use.''

HomeServe, one of the UK’s leading home assistance providers, has worked hard to build an inclusive, supportive, fun, and collaborative culture that empowers all their People to do the right thing.

Since its formation in 1993, HomeServe has built a network of experienced, committed tradespeople, offering customers the reassurance of approved engineers, a prompt response, generous cover and claims limits and the convenience of having one number to call in an emergency.

They have expanded internationally, developed joint ventures, partnerships and made acquisitions in the UK, Europe and the USA.

It’s clear that their people are key to the business. They recruit for a vast range of roles across the contact centre, support functions and engineering.

Having managed recruitment with a bolt-on recruitment solution through their HR & Payroll provider, the Recruitment Team didn’t have access to a dedicated recruitment platform that would offer the flexibility and scalability to grow and evolve with the organisation and recruitment priorities.

Issues such as application drop-off were common, vacancy sign-off was manual and time-consuming, background checks were lengthy, and the candidate experience had room for improvement. As with manual processes and Excel spreadsheets, reporting was inconsistent and painful to prepare.

Connecting recruitment technology

By implementing Eploy’s complete Applicant Tracking System and Talent CRM, HomeServe can now design how they want their processes to work and get their jobs in front of the right candidates. As a result, everything from vacancy approval to onboarding is now much easier for all involved in the recruitment process. The team has received positive feedback from across the business, particularly regarding the new systems ease-of-use.

Eploy now acts as the central hub for all recruitment activity at HomeServe, connected with various other technologies used within the full hiring process. For example, HomeServe use Experian for Background Checking, as an Eploy’s Experian integration ensures that checks are carried out at the right time for the right people.

HomeServe has also implemented Eploy’s complete Indeed integration, which ensures jobs appear on Indeed automatically and enables candidates to apply directly on Indeed, including incorporating screening questions that are entirely managed within Eploy’s Discover tool. In addition, all applications are instantly transferred into Eploy, ensuring a smooth candidate journey.

The Recruitment Team is also using Eploy’s Multi-Poster to send vacancy details to preferred job boards. By sending the same vacancy simultaneously to the chosen job boards, the team saves time and can better manage vacancies, applicant tracking, and candidate management.

HomeServe’s careers website is designed to include a wealth of candidate-centric content that is helping to engage candidates and provide a streamlined job search and application process, fully underpinned by Eploy’s award-winning Candidate Portal technology.

The careers website also features accessibility technology from Recite Me, an Eploy partner. Recite Me helps ensure the new site is ‘accessible for all’ by providing a toolbar full of accessibility and language support options. Recite Me features include text-to-speech functionality, fully customisable styling, reading aids and a translation tool with over 100 languages, including 35 text-to-speech voices and many other features.

Kasia Klunduk, Head of Recruitment at HomeServe commented, “We recruit for many contact centre and frontline roles so the candidate portal has been a huge step forwards from a candidate user experience point of view that allows us to engage with a wider audience. The speed at which we can perform online background and credit checks in a compliant way through automating our ATS with Experian is second to none. We have received positive feedback from around the business on the improvements made and ease of Eploy to use.

“The progress we are making is filtered to a steering committee to share wins and benefits so the value add to the business is understood. We are very much looking forward to the ongoing benefits, especially around the dashboard metrics that will allow us to fine tune our recruitment activity and act on key insights.”
