Secure Trust Bank is a well-established UK bank, having been incorporated in 1954. It provides banking services including a range of lending solutions and savings products. The bank operates from its head office in Solihull, West Midlands and currently has approximately 800 employees across the UK.

Customers are at the heart of everything the Bank does, but it can’t achieve its customer focused strategy without the right people in the team. A career with the Bank is not just a job, it’s the chance to be part of something bigger, to add real value to the Bank and help it constantly improve, in order to achieve its ambition of becoming the best bank in Britain.

The encompassing Secure Trust Bank Group has a vast array of specialist and support roles based in each of its offices; Solihull, Manchester, Rotherham, Bourne End, London and Cardiff. The roles cover many different areas including: HR, Training, IT, Risk & Compliance, Finance, Sales & Client Services and Marketing & Communications. Getting the right people in the right roles to have an impact on the Group’s core values is essential.

The Group takes its regulatory responsibilities seriously, and it was this commitment to comply with GDPR obligations that prompted a review of its existing ATS and recruitment processes.

As part of the review process, which included mapping out the hiring workflow, a statement of requirements was produced, detailing the challenges that needed to be addressed. These included how to manage data in line with GDPR regulations and the Group’s Data Retention Policy in such a way that was compliant yet flexible for the recruitment team and hiring managers, whilst also giving candidates the freedom to manage data preferences themselves. It was also essential to make the recruitment process more user friendly for candidates and managers.

Secure Trust Bank undertook a full tender process and Eploy was selected because it was the best fit and could scale with the Group’s growth aspirations. Eploy had introduced a new suite of tools that focused on key aspects of GDPR regulations. The Eploy functionality would allow data to be shared in a compliant way as well-being anonymised, and CVs and files associated with candidates would be deleted, leaving only pertinent, non-personally identifiable data to maintain the integrity of stats and KPIs that don’t rely on personal information.

Katie Drumm, Resourcing Manager at Secure Trust Bank who led the project commented, “Having access to the consent tools within Eploy has enabled the Resourcing Team and hiring managers to work directly with candidate data in Eploy in a robust and compliant way. The candidate portal preference consents allow candidates to select specific consents and then manage preferences themselves. Also, we will soon be utilising online onboarding, which will not only improve our efficiency with offer management and reference collection, but will automate the compliance aspects of onboarding, such as secure electronic offer acceptance and document signing. We are making positive changes to recruit quality candidates.”

Chris Bogh, CTO at Eploy, said “Eploy is committed to complying with GDPR as a data processor and helping customers to comply with data controller obligations. Helping customers further with GDPR through our suite of tools that focus on key aspects of the regulations has clearly differentiated our e-recruitment platform from others in the market. It is fantastic to hear how Secure Trust Bank is using Eploy to constantly improve”.
